USA Garden Tourism Awards – How They Make a Difference

Jim is Vice President of Garden Walk Buffalo Niagara, a regional garden tourism entity coordinating garden-themed bus and bike tours, 80 Open Gardens each July, a garden art sale, garden art exhibitions, an annual public space makeover, educational workshops and seminars, beautification grants, 14 regional garden tours – including Garden Walk Buffalo, America’s largest garden tour.

Jim is a six-term, past president of Garden Walk Buffalo – 400 urban gardens open the last full weekend of July each year, attracting 60,000+ attendees from around the U.S. and Canada each year.

Jim operates an advertising design business, JCharlier Communication Design ; sits on the Marketing Advisory Committee of Urban Roots Garden Center , the nation's first cooperative garden center; and is Vice President, Chair of the Marketing, for Frank Lloyd Wright's Graycliff Estate .

Jim has been told that he is the country's second leading garden tourism expert – by the country's leading garden tourism expert, Richard Benfield. “Mostly,” Richard says, “because there is no one else.”
